The Hampton at Clearwater Health Fair

Friday, August 24, 2007
Had a great time demonstrating The Fitness Balloon to over 300 attendees at this Health Fair - after 4 hours of the Fair, nearly everyone was walking around with their complementary blue balloon and had new insight into this unique form of strengthening and coordination exercise! Thanks to Keystone Healthcare and Rehab and to Jewell Vincent of The Hampton for inviting me to exhibit.

THE FITNESS BALLOON

Hi, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Recreation Therapists, Activity Directors and Everyone Interested in a Safe, FUN, Beneficial Exercise Program!

I am new to the Blogging World, but not new to rehabilitation. My name is Jane Davis, a PT for 40 years, with vast experience in everything: formal teaching, acute care, owning my private practice, rehab, (currently) home health care, pediatrics, worker's comp, sports medicine to geriatrics.

I have just published a manual entitled The Fitness Balloon - A Manual for Exercise. The concept was born of experience and and need for a versatile, multi-application exercise technique. The exercises are progressive resistance, infinitely (really!) variable resistance, safe and FUN! Clients love them and comply with them. Family members want a balloon too, so that they can "work" with their loved ones - eveyone benefits!

The Florida Physical Therapy Association Annual Meeting in Daytona Beach this weekend, August 9-12, was my first venture into showing this manual and technique to therapists who were not my friends and co-workers! What a fantastic response!

Great idea!

I will use this with my patients on Monday!

This gives me a great tool to inspire my patients!

I can see how patients love this - everybody likes balloons - you just want to grab it and

work it!

This balloon is so strong - I grab it and mash it with all my might and it doesn't pop!

WOW! That "bread-making" exercise really recruits the abds!

Way cool! How did you think of this?

We use balloons, but not like this!!

A wholehearted thanks to everyone who visited the booth and gave me feedback - I always have been proud to be a member of this profession and this past weekend confirmed my conviction!

Now let's see what this blog looks like - I need all the suggestions I can get from everyone who reads this ... I'm a novice at blogging ... thanks, in advance ...
